Highgate Group Practice, known for its commitment to being a “Dementia Friendly Practice,” recently organized its inaugural coffee event aimed at bringing together support groups for dementia patients and their families and caregivers.
The event, held on Friday, March 8th, 2024, was organized by our dedicated Social Prescriber and esteemed Admin Team. It aimed to address various aspects of dementia care and support, spotlighting local services and activities available to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by dementia.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to representatives from local dementia services who generously contributed their time to engage with our patients and share their expertise. Among them were Clare Davies, the dementia lead from Haringey Council; Berivan, Chris, and Natasha from Shared Lives; Paul Higgins from Reach and Connect; and Carys Thomas from the Park Theatre.
Attendees were invited to share their feedback on the event, and their responses provided valuable insights into their positive experiences and suggestions for improvement.
All attendees expressed their enjoyment of the event, particularly appreciating the opportunity to meet support groups and gather valuable information. One participant emphasized the importance of the contacts and information provided, highlighting their significance in navigating the complexities of dementia care.
Others welcomed the chance to explore activities and options for engaging with patients, such as participating in walking groups.
Feedback on the information provided about local dementia services and activities was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees found it helpful overall, with many expressing appreciation for the opportunity to meet various organizations and access useful printed materials.
Highgate Group Practice is committed to continuing this event to ensure that all our patients with dementia receive the necessary information and support they need.
